The South Georgia area known as Lake Park includes not only the city limits of Lake Park but also much of southern Lowndes County, Georgia. This area is easily accessible from both I-75 (Exits 2 & 5) and US Hwy 41, just 4 miles north of the Georgia/Florida border and 12 miles south of the metro area of Valdosta, Georgia.
Within a short driving distance of Lake Park are many south Georgia and north Florida natural attractions, historic sites, plantations, shopping destinations and leisure activities. Day trips provide easy access to professional and collegiate sporting events, motor sports parks, greyhound racing, jai alai, major theme parks and much more.
The metro area of Valdosta is home to South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta Regional Airport, Valdosta State University, Moody Air Force Base, Valdosta Symphony Orchestra and Wild Adventures Theme Park.
The City of Lake Park is governed by an elected mayor, four council members and a city clerk to assist them. Other city services include public works, fire and police departments. Also available to the community are: churches of many denominations, health care professionals, EMS ambulatory crews, veterinarians, day care facilities, assisted living centers, senior citizen clubs, a public library, and the highly acclaimed Lake Park Elementary School (Pre K-5).
